23/04/10 Results from the HPA for Legionella infections in March 2010

Nineteen cases were reported with pneumonia; 16 males aged 32-80 years and three females aged 53-66 years. Fourteen cases had community acquired infection, two of whom acquired the infection in 2009. There were two deaths in a female aged 61 years and a male aged 54 years.

Five cases were travel associated; India (1), Italy (1), Portugal (1), Thailand (1) and United Arab Emirates (1).
