  • 14/12/10 Verdict of Industrial Disease Returned on Death of A Woman who Contracted Legionnaires Disease in the West Midlands

    A verdict of death by industrial disease was returned into the death of a West Midlands woman who contracted Legionnaires' disease, solicitors said. Five cases, including that of Patricia Ashton, 51, were confirmed between June and August 2007 and traced to a small area in Dudley, Irwin Mitchell said.     Fifty-three cases were reported with pneumonia and one was reported with non-pneumonic infection; 41 males aged from 40 to 85 years and 13 females aged from 47 to 83 years.     Pupils at a West Highland school complex have been told to stay at home after legionella bacteria was found in the water system.   • 18/10/10 Two Legionnaires' Cases Reported In Shropshire

    Two people have been diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease in Shropshire. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said it was not yet known if the two cases in the Whitchurch area were linked.
