21/05/09 Firm fined after HSE investigation

Apetito, formerly of Crackley Way, Peartree Lane, Netherton, had failed to ensure the safety of a water cooling tower on the premises and have been fined by the Health and Safety Executive for being in breach of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations.

The factory was of at least 10 to be investigated by the HSE after a death of a Lady in her fifties in 2007.

Sarah Palfreyman, prosecuting for the HSE, said no legionella, the bacteria which causes the disease, had been found at the site.
