21/04/09 Reports of Legionnaires Disease Outbreaks in England and Wales for February 2009

18 Cases have been reported for february 2009. Two people have died a male 68 years old and a female aged 85 years old.

Of the 18 cases 14 were reported as males aged 29 - 78 and 4 were females aged 22 - 85 years old.

Six of the cases were community acquired and 1 was infected in hospital (nosocomial).

The remaining 11 cases were travel associated as follows:

• Barbados/Cruise (1).
• Italy (1)
• Italy/UK (1)
• Portugal/Spain (1)
• Spain (2)
• Thailand (2)
• Turkey (1)
• United Arab Emirates (2)
